Unit III ~Optimal Well-being~

~Based on my reflections, and on a scale of 1 to 10, I rate my physical wellbeing at an 8. I rate my spiritual wellbeing at a 9 and I rate my psychological wellbeing at a 9. I believe that I have some work to be complete upon the type of body that I once had last year. My life took many different turns (I may mention them later), which includes many different schedule changing. Spiritual is an area I’ve been working upon through life changes that recently occurring within my life, but there’s always room for improvements. Psychological is an important area, because it ties physical and spiritual together; thus it’s necessary to maintain a well balanced level upon these elements. My goal upon my physical wellbeing is to lose ten pounds of fat and gain ten by pounds of muscles by January 31, 2013. I shall also create a new gym schedule by December 2012. My goal upon my spiritual wellbeing is for me to attend Bible study every Thursday, since I have already started last week. My goal upon psychological is to have a more of a peace of mind upon life itself every night before I go to bed. I shall perform an hour on the treadmill and added physical activities such as cleaning and yard work; in order to reach my goal upon physical well-being. I shall read (and memorize) more prayers every day, in order to reach my goal upon spiritual well-being. I shall practices clearing my mind and writing down anything that is troubling me (with a solution) before I go to sleep at night, which will help me move toward my goals.

The Crime of the Century relaxation exercise doesn’t sound anywhere near what it actually is, but I thought it was pretty nice to experience (if you never experienced it before). I like the sound of the exercise, but I do not care too much about the narrator, because I already know what to do and I love to flow with the elements of sound upon the exercise (music). On the other hand, there are people who are not familiar with these exercises, thus the need of the narrator is there. I believe this relaxation exercise is beneficial, because everyone needs that one moment a day to reset their body and mind as well as clearing the mind of daily clutter of information. Even our cell phones need to power down and rest once a day, because our phones share information and connects too many different towers in order to keep us connected at all times. More forward, in the mist of connecting to different towers, our phones would have to continue switching back and forward tower to tower to stay connected, which creates clutter. I’m now more aware of overloading of the mind and finding a balance of psychological, spiritual, and physical well-being. So tell me, when are you going to free your mind today?

  1. Lee,

Like you, I think it is a good idea to memorize, so I think I will integrate that into my plan as well. Also like you, when something is really bothering me, I have found that it helps to write it down along with a game plan to resolve the issue. Way to go on your scoring. You sound like you are in awesome health with just a few tweaks that you're working on. Best wishes for meeting your goals.

  2. Hi Lee.

First I must say, I really like your background picture. I've been trying to figure out how to do that. This whole blogging thing is completely new to me. These seem to be reasonable goals that you have. In reading your physical goal I remembered that I saw a 5k/10k at Dockweiller Beach that I want to train for. I have never done one and that has been a thought for some time now. It is mid January so I think, like your goal to change the 10 lbs from fat to muscle, I should be able to train for a 5K run/walk on the Beach. I have approximately two months. I think it's admirable that you have already started your bible study and will incorporate going once a week. I'm sure that if you make it your goal each week to go at least once, you will get there. I think we all need to remember to take a "time out" each day for mental health.

  3. Hi Lee, Great goal setting. It will be good to hear how that comes along. I'm starting back to strength training and I sure wish I had not stopped. I have lost so much strength. I think feeling stronger is good for our mental and emotional health along with physical health.
That is great that you can do the flow by yourself. I am so out of practice, but now that I get to one yoga class a week, I feel I have taken a step forward.
I like your point of powering down your cell phone and disconnecting.
    Be well, Sarajane
